Common questions
How long does a dub take
A few minutes for a short video: a 15-second clip is usually back in one or two minutes, and a two-minute video in about three. Longer videos take longer, and at busy times a run can wait several minutes before it starts. You can close the tab while it runs; we email you when the dub is ready.
Which videos and languages can I use
Choose a supported source and target language in the studio. Upload an mp4 of up to 2 GB and 2 hours; H.264 video with AAC audio works best. The video needs clear speech in the source language you select: a run on a clip with only music or silence fails and is refunded.
Why does a line sound rushed
Its translation is longer than the time the speaker had, so it is spoken faster to fit. Each line's fit meter shows this before you render. Shorten the wording, ask for a shorter version with a note, or drag the line's edges on the timeline to give it more time.
What happens if a run fails
The version shows why it failed, and the credit held for it is refunded automatically. Your previous version stays current and downloadable. Common causes are audio without speech, a video that does not match the selected source language, or a temporary outage on our side.
Can I choose voices or use my own
You choose from natural voices for each language: one per speaker, or a different one for a single line, and you can preview any of them for free. Cloning a real person's voice is not offered.
Can I get a refund on unused credit
Failed runs are refunded automatically. For unused purchased credit, write to us with the form below and the date of the purchase; refunds are handled case by case, as the Terms describe.
How do I delete projects or account data
Delete a project from the studio to remove its source video, drafts and every dubbed version. To download everything we hold about you, or to delete your account, open the Account page.
How long do you keep my videos
As long as you keep using 4dub. If you don't sign in for 12 months, we delete your projects with their videos, dubs and subtitles; we email you 30 days before, and signing in once keeps everything. Your account and your credit stay either way.
What should I include when I report a problem
The project title and the version number, the line numbers involved, what you expected and what happened instead, with the exact error message if there was one. For billing questions, include the date of the purchase; for problems in the editor, your browser and operating system.
