An editor for dubbing

4dub gets the first dub done in minutes. The editor is where it becomes yours: every line, voice and timing is something you can see, hear and change.

Timeline

Every line and speaker on one timeline

The dub opens as a production timeline: a waveform of the original, and one lane per speaker with every line as a block. Lines that are too long for their slot are marked before you hear them.

  • Drag a block’s edges to move or stretch a line; lines never overlap
  • A fit meter on every line: ok, tight or too long
  • Space to play, J and K for previous and next line, Cmd+Z to undo

Wording

Rewrite with a note or edit it yourself

Select a line and type what is wrong with it: “too formal”, “shorter”, “say ‘sign up’ not ‘register’”. You get a rewrite that fits the time slot, with the changed words marked, and you decide whether it goes in.

  • Rewrite one line or a whole selection with the same note
  • Edit the source text and 4dub translates that line again
  • Every change is shown word by word before you accept it
The 4dub editor on line 19: the English line, its Spanish translation, the note “shorter and more casual” and the suggested rewrite with the changed words marked, beside the video and the timeline.

Voices

The right voice for every speaker and line

Pick a voice for each speaker from the regional catalogue and hear it on their own words. When one sentence needs a different read, override the voice for that line only.

  • A lane and a voice per speaker, with names you can change
  • Free previews of any line in any voice
  • Regional voices for your chosen target language

Versions

Every render is a version you can return to

Apply shows the exact price first. When the render finishes it becomes the next numbered version: compare it with the last one line by line, play either, and restore an earlier take if it was better.

  • Restore any successful version in one click
  • Failed runs are refunded and never replace a good version
  • The dubbed mp4 and subtitles in both languages
The 4dub editor with the versions tab open: version 2 is current with its note, price, compare button and downloads, above the first dub.
